Questions About the Big Day

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

The wedding ceremony will be taking place outdoors on the Main Lawn underneath a tent. The lawn is short manicured green grass (think golf course putting green), so please plan your footwear accordingly. Probably best to leave the stilettos at home. The reception after the ceremony will be taking place indoors.

What type of weather should I expect?

Well… it is British Columbia in May, so we could have a high of 20˚C / 68˚F to a low of 6˚C / 46˚F with a chance of scattered rain. The ceremony will be taking place outdoors underneath a tent rain or shine, but we’re personally hoping for sunshine ☀️

What time should I arrive?

Please plan to arrive between 2:30-3:00pm. If you’d like to participate in the Baraat (the groom’s procession), please give yourself enough time to gather in front of Swaneset at the end of the parking lot by 3pm at the latest.

I want to participate in the Baraat, but I don’t know if it’s appropriate?

Danny here - Don’t worry, the Baraat is about having fun! Danny’s family will gather in front of Swaneset and walk to the entrance doors where Nimisha’s family will greet them. The whole point is to dance, sing, have fun, and celebrate the arrival of the groom and the start of the wedding ceremony. We can all chant “Go Big Red!” together to add a little Nebraska flavor!

What should I wear?

Formal / Indian

This is a formal event, but please wear whatever makes you feel your best, whether that’s a dress, lehenga, saree, or suit. Indian and western clothing are both encouraged.

Are there any colors that are off limits?

The bride will wear red for the ceremony and white for the reception. If you can avoid those colors, that would be great! Thank you in advance ❤️

Will transportation be provided to the wedding venue?

Yes! For guests staying at the Sheraton, there will be a shuttle bus to and from the hotel to the wedding venue. Please be advised that Swaneset is a little bit of a drive away from civilization (~25m from the hotel), and it will be quite dark driving back after the reception. We encourage folks to use the shuttle if anyone is nervous about driving.

Departure from Sheraton to Swaneset: 2:15 PM

Departure from Swaneset back to Sheraton: 12:15 AM

Will there be free parking?

If people wish to drive themselves, then Swaneset has plenty of space for parking. Please ensure you’re parked in the Guest Parking lot, not in the Member’s Only parking areas (marked in red in the image above).

Please stay safe and carpool with a designated driver if you plan to drink (or use the shuttle or ride services such as Uber/Lyft).

Are the wedding locations wheelchair accessible?

Yes! There are ramps to get down to the Main Lawn for the wedding ceremony, and there’s an elevator inside to access the third floor for the cocktail hour and reception.
